When it comes to appearances, watch your back!
My best advice to clients who are presenting live or being taped is to make sure you know what the back of you looks like. Take the time to check yourself in a mirror if no one else is available for a once over.
I recently failed to follow my own advice, and suffered an awkward moment. The dress I wore to the farmer's market and then Whole Foods had a long tear in the back. I was blissfully unaware, noticing only that I seemed to be drawing a lot of looks. Completely misunderstanding the situation, I became more animated and pleasant...so much attention for a simple cotton frock!
Some kind woman came up (I thought she wanted to cut ahead of me and I was ready to let her, I was feeling so perky) and asked me if I was aware that I had a long tear up the back of my dress.
In my case, I made the mistake of thinking my husband might be my second set of eyes...he said he had noticed it, but forgot to mention it.
Forewarned is forearmed...watch your back!
